धातुष्व अग्निस तु विततः स तु वायुसमीरितः रसान धतूंश च दॊषांश च वर्तयन परिधावति ।। ३-२०३-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'The internal heat is diffused throughout all the tissues of the body and, supported by the various vital airs, it transforms the food, tissues, and humours within the system.' ।। 3-203-21 ।।

english translation

dhAtuSva agnisa tu vitataH sa tu vAyusamIritaH rasAna dhatUMza ca dòSAMza ca vartayana paridhAvati || 3-203-21 ||

पराणानां संनिपातात तु संनिपातः परजायते उष्मा चाग्निर इति जञेयॊ यॊ ऽननं पचति देहिनाम ।। ३-२०३-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'When Prana and the other vital airs combine, a reaction occurs, and the heat generated is known as the internal heat of the body, which is responsible for the digestion of food.' ।। 3-203-22 ।।

english translation

parANAnAM saMnipAtAta tu saMnipAtaH parajAyate uSmA cAgnira iti jaJeyò yò 'nanaM pacati dehinAma || 3-203-22 ||

अपानॊदानयॊर मध्ये पराणव्यानौ समाहितौ समन्वितस तव अधिष्ठानं सम्यक पचति पावकः ।। ३-२०३-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'The Prāṇa and Apāna airs are interposed within the Samāna and Udāna airs. The heat generated by their combination fosters the growth of the body, which consists of the seven substances, including bones, muscles, and so on.' ।। 3-203-23 ।।

english translation

apAnòdAnayòra madhye parANavyAnau samAhitau samanvitasa tava adhiSThAnaM samyaka pacati pAvakaH || 3-203-23 ||

तस्यापि पायुपर्यन्तस तथा सयाद उदसंज्ञितः सरॊतांसि तस्माज जायन्ते सर्वप्राणेषु देहिनाम ।। ३-२०३-२४ ।।

'Up to the region of the anus, there exists what is known as 'uda' (upward moving energy), and from this arise the channels/pathways in all the life-breaths of embodied beings.' ।। 3-203-24 ।।

tasyApi pAyuparyantasa tathA sayAda udasaMjJitaH saròtAMsi tasmAja jAyante sarvaprANeSu dehinAma || 3-203-24 ||

अग्निवेगवहः पराणॊ गुदान्ते परतिहन्यते स ऊर्ध्वम आगम्य पुनः समुत्क्षिपति पावकम ।। ३-२०३-२५ ।।

sanskrit

'The life-breath (prana), which carries the force of fire/heat, is checked/resisted at the end of the rectum (guda). Then, moving upward again, it throws up the digestive fire.' ।। 3-203-25 ।।

agnivegavahaH parANò gudAnte paratihanyate sa Urdhvama Agamya punaH samutkSipati pAvakama || 3-203-25 ||
