[तार्क्स्य] कषेत्रज्ञभूतां परलॊकभावे; कर्मॊदये बुद्धिम अतिप्रविष्टाम परज्ञां च देवीं सुभगे विमृश्य; पृच्छामि तवां का हय असि चारुरूपे ॥ ३-१८४-१६ ॥

'Tarkshya asked, "O auspicious one, endowed with great wisdom, who have entered into the realm of the afterlife and are deeply versed in the workings of karma, I seek to understand. Tell me, O beautiful lady, who art thou, possessed of such divine intellect?"' ॥ 3-184-16 ॥

english translation

[सरस] अग्निहॊत्राद अहम अभ्यागतास्मि; विप्रर्षभाणां संशय चछेदनाय तवत संयॊगाद अहम एतद अब्रुवं; भावे सथिता तथ्यम अर्थं यथावत ॥ ३-१८४-१७ ॥

'Saraswati replied, "I have come from performing the Agnihotra, O best of Brahmanas, to dispel your doubt. By the grace of your inquiry, I shall now speak the truth, explaining the matter with clarity and meaning, as it truly is."' ॥ 3-184-17 ॥

english translation

[तार्क्स्य] न हि तवया सदृशी का चिद अस्ति; विभ्राजसे हय अतिमात्रं यथा शरीः रूपं च ते दिव्यम अत्यन्तकान्तं; परज्ञां च देवीं सुभगे बिभर्षि ॥ ३-१८४-१८ ॥

'Tarkshya said, "Indeed, there is none like you, O divine one! You shine with an extraordinary radiance, just as prosperity herself does. Your form is celestial, supremely beautiful, and you possess divine wisdom, O auspicious one!"' ॥ 3-184-18 ॥

english translation

[सरस] शरेष्ठानि यानि दविपदां वरिष्ठ; यज्ञेषु विद्वन्न उपपादयन्ति तैर एवाहं संप्रवृद्धा भवामि; आप्यायिता रूपवती च विप्र ॥ ३-१८४-१९ ॥

'Saraswati replied, "The best of all creatures, the most exalted beings among bipeds, those who are well-versed in sacrifices and rituals, bring forth great prosperity. Through their guidance, I, too, have flourished, and I am nourished with beauty and wisdom, O Brahmana."' ॥ 3-184-19 ॥

english translation

यच चापि दरव्यम उपयुज्यते ह; वानस्पत्यम आयसं पार्थिवं वा दिव्येन रूपेण च परज्ञया च; तेनैव सिद्धिर इति विद्धि विद्वन ॥ ३-१८४-२० ॥

'Saraswati continued, "Whatever material is used, whether it be of plant origin, iron, or royal treasure, along with divine beauty and wisdom, know that success is attained through the very essence of these, O learned one."' ॥ 3-184-20 ॥
