यः सप्त वर्षाणि जुहॊति तार्क्ष्य; हव्यं तव अग्नौ सुव्रतः साधु शीलः सप्तावरान सप्त पूर्वान पुनाति; पितामहान आत्मनः कर्मभिः सवैः ।। ३-१८४-११ ।।

sanskrit

'One who performs fire sacrifices (जुहोति) for seven years (सप्त वर्षाणि), O Tarkshya (तार्क्ष्य), offering oblations (हव्यं) in your fire (तव अग्नौ), who is of good vows/conduct (सुव्रतः) and righteous character (साधु शीलः) - through their own actions/karma (कर्मभिः स्वैः), they purify (पुनाति) seven generations below/descendants (सप्तावरान्) and seven generations above/ancestors (सप्त पूर्वान्) including grandfathers (पितामहान्).' ।। 3-184-11 ।।

'Saraswati replied, "One who is not impure, whose hands are clean, who is not unskilled in the Vedas, and who possesses discernment—only such a one should perform the Agnihotra. The gods, desiring purity and with clear minds, accept the offering. Those who lack faith or are unclean in body and mind do not benefit from the offering, for it is the sincerity and purity of the devotee that brings the offering to fruition."' ।। 3-184-13 ।।

नाश्रॊत्रियं देव हव्ये नियुञ्ज्यान; मॊघं परा सिञ्चति तादृशॊ हि अपूर्णम अश्रॊत्रियम आह तार्क्ष्य; न वै तादृग जुहुयाद अग्निहॊत्रम ।। ३-१८४-१४ ।।

'Saraswati continued, "One who is not learned in the Vedas, or who is not capable of hearing and understanding them, should not be entrusted with the sacred offering. For such a person, the offering is wasted, as they cannot perform the ritual properly. Thus, Tarkshya, one who is not well-versed in the sacred texts should not attempt to perform the Agnihotra."' ।। 3-184-14 ।।

'Saraswati continued, "Those who offer sacrifices with faith, devoted to truth, who partake of the remains of the offering and are steadfast in their vows, attain the realm of cows. There, they experience the pure fragrance of virtue, and behold the supreme divine, the embodiment of truth itself."' ।। 3-184-15 ।।
