नाश्रॊत्रियं देव हव्ये नियुञ्ज्यान; मॊघं परा सिञ्चति तादृशॊ हि अपूर्णम अश्रॊत्रियम आह तार्क्ष्य; न वै तादृग जुहुयाद अग्निहॊत्रम ॥ ३-१८४-१४ ॥

sanskrit

'Saraswati continued, "One who is not learned in the Vedas, or who is not capable of hearing and understanding them, should not be entrusted with the sacred offering. For such a person, the offering is wasted, as they cannot perform the ritual properly. Thus, Tarkshya, one who is not well-versed in the sacred texts should not attempt to perform the Agnihotra."' ॥ 3-184-14 ॥

english translation

nAzròtriyaM deva havye niyuJjyAna; mòghaM parA siJcati tAdRzò hi apUrNama azròtriyama Aha tArkSya; na vai tAdRga juhuyAda agnihòtrama ॥ 3-184-14 ॥
