तत्र सम रम्या विपुला विशॊकाः; सुपुष्पिताः पुष्करिण्यः सुपुण्याः अकर्दमा मीनवत्यः सुतीर्था; हिरण्मयैर आवृताः पुण्डरीकैः ।। ३-१८४-६ ।।

sanskrit

'There are many vast, beautiful, crystal-clear, and sacred lakes, teeming with fish, blooming flowers, and golden lotuses. They resemble sanctuaries, and simply gazing upon them brings a sense of peace and alleviates sorrow.' ।। 3-184-6 ।।

english translation

tatra sama ramyA vipulA vizòkAH; supuSpitAH puSkariNyaH supuNyAH akardamA mInavatyaH sutIrthA; hiraNmayaira AvRtAH puNDarIkaiH || 3-184-6 ||

hk transliteration

तासां तीरेष्व आसते पुण्यकर्मा; महीयमानः पृथग अप्सरॊभिः सुपुण्य गन्धाभिर अलंकृताभिर; हिरण्यवर्णाभिर अतीव हृष्टः ।। ३-१८४-७ ।।

sanskrit

'On their banks (तीरेषु) sits (आसते) the one who has performed meritorious deeds/virtuous actions (पुण्यकर्मा), being honored/glorified (महीयमानः) separately/distinctly (पृथक्) by the celestial nymphs/apsaras (अप्सरोभिः), who are adorned/decorated (अलंकृताभिः) with extremely pure/divine fragrances (सुपुण्य गन्धाभिः), who are golden in complexion (हिरण्यवर्णाभिः), and he is extremely delighted/joyful (अतीव हृष्टः).' ।। 3-184-7 ।।

english translation

tAsAM tIreSva Asate puNyakarmA; mahIyamAnaH pRthaga apsaròbhiH supuNya gandhAbhira alaMkRtAbhira; hiraNyavarNAbhira atIva hRSTaH || 3-184-7 ||

hk transliteration

परं लॊकं गॊप्रदास तव आप्नुवन्ति; दत्त्वानड्वाहं सूर्यलॊकं वरजन्ति वासॊ दत्त्वा चन्द्रमसः स लॊकं; दत्त्वा हिरण्यम अमृतत्वम एति ।। ३-१८४-८ ।।

sanskrit

'He who donates cows to Brahmanas attains the highest realms, while he who gives bullocks reaches the solar sphere. By offering clothes, one ascends to the lunar world, and through the gift of gold, one attains the state of the Immortals.' ।। 3-184-8 ।।

english translation

paraM lòkaM gòpradAsa tava Apnuvanti; dattvAnaDvAhaM sUryalòkaM varajanti vAsò dattvA candramasaH sa lòkaM; dattvA hiraNyama amRtatvama eti || 3-184-8 ||

hk transliteration

धेनुं दत्त्व सुव्रतां साधु दॊहां; कल्याणवत साम पलायिनीं च यावन्ति रॊमाणि भवन्ति तस्यास; तावद वर्षाण्य अश्नुते सवर्गलॊकम ।। ३-१८४-९ ।।

sanskrit

'He who gives a beautiful cow, with a fine calf, easily milked and gentle in nature, will live in the celestial realms for as many years as there are hairs on the body of that cow.' ।। 3-184-9 ।।

english translation

dhenuM dattva suvratAM sAdhu dòhAM; kalyANavata sAma palAyinIM ca yAvanti ròmANi bhavanti tasyAsa; tAvada varSANya aznute savargalòkama || 3-184-9 ||

hk transliteration

अनड्वाहं सुव्रतं यॊ ददाति; हलस्य वॊड्धारम अनन्तवीर्यम धुरं धुरं बलवन्तं युवानं; पराप्नॊति लॊकान दश धेनुदस्य ।। ३-१८४-१० ।।

sanskrit

'He who gives a fine, strong, and powerful young bullock, capable of drawing the plough and bearing heavy loads, reaches the realms attained by those who give ten cows.' ।। 3-184-10 ।।

english translation

anaDvAhaM suvrataM yò dadAti; halasya vòDdhArama anantavIryama dhuraM dhuraM balavantaM yuvAnaM; parApnòti lòkAna daza dhenudasya || 3-184-10 ||
