स च तेषां वचॊ शरुत्वा यथातत्त्वं महातपः परत्युवाचाथ तान एवं धर्मार्थसहितं वचः ।। ३-१८३-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'Upon hearing their words, the great ascetic, understanding the matter in its true form, replied to them, speaking words that were in harmony with both dharma and artha.' ।। 3-183-21 ।।

english translation

sa ca teSAM vacò zarutvA yathAtattvaM mahAtapaH paratyuvAcAtha tAna evaM dharmArthasahitaM vacaH || 3-183-21 ||

hk transliteration

[सनत्कुमार] बरह्मक्षत्रेण सहितं कषत्रं च बरह्मणा सह राजा वै परथमॊ धर्मः परजानां पतिर एव च स एव शक्रः शुक्रश च स धाता स बृहस्पतिः ।। ३-१८३-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, the great ascetic, having heard the details from them, addressed them with words full of religious significance. Sanatkumara said, 'Just as fire, aided by the wind, consumes forests, so does the energy of a Brahmana, in union with a Kshatriya, or a Kshatriya’s strength, combined with a Brahmana’s, destroy all enemies. The sovereign is the supreme lawgiver and protector of his people. He is like Indra in protecting all created beings, like Sukra in imparting moral teachings, like Brihaspati in counsel, and thus he is also the ruler of men's destinies.'' ।। 3-183-22 ।।

english translation

[sanatkumAra] barahmakSatreNa sahitaM kaSatraM ca barahmaNA saha rAjA vai parathamò dharmaH parajAnAM patira eva ca sa eva zakraH zukraza ca sa dhAtA sa bRhaspatiH || 3-183-22 ||

hk transliteration

परजापतिर विराट सम्राट कषत्रियॊ भूपतिर नृपः य एभिः सतूयते शब्दैः कस तं नार्चितुम अर्हति ।। ३-१८३-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'Who would not deem it proper to worship one to whom such titles as 'preserver of created beings,' 'royal,' 'emperor,' 'Kshatriya' (or savior of the earth), 'lord of the earth,' and 'ruler of men' are ascribed in praise?' ।। 3-183-23 ।।

english translation

parajApatira virATa samrATa kaSatriyò bhUpatira nRpaH ya ebhiH satUyate zabdaiH kasa taM nArcituma arhati || 3-183-23 ||

hk transliteration

पुरा यॊनिर युधाजिच च अभिया मुदितॊ भवः सवर्णेता सहजिद बभ्रुर इति राजाभिधीयते ।। ३-१८३-२४ ।।

sanskrit

'The one who is complete (पूर्ण), a warrior (योद्धृ), victorious in battle (युधाजित्), fearless (अभी), joyful (मुदित), self-illuminated/radiant (स्वर्णेत), naturally victorious (सहजित्), and reddish-brown/tawny in color (बभ्रु) - such a king (राजा) is thus described (अभिधीयते).' ।। 3-183-24 ।।

english translation

purA yònira yudhAjica ca abhiyA muditò bhavaH savarNetA sahajida babhrura iti rAjAbhidhIyate || 3-183-24 ||

hk transliteration

सत्यमन्युर युधाजीवः सत्यधर्मप्रवर्तकः अधर्माद ऋषयॊ भीता बलं कषत्रे समादधन ।। ३-१८३-२५ ।।

sanskrit

'He is the embodiment of truth, the fierce warrior, the initiator of righteous action. The sages, fearful of unrighteousness, find strength in the Kshatriya to uphold justice.' ।। 3-183-25 ।।
