सवाध्यायवन्तः सततक्रियाश च; धर्मप्रधानाश च शुचिव्रताश च सत्ये सथितास तस्य महारथस्य; सत्यव्रतस्यागमन परतीक्षाः ॥ ३-१६१-११ ॥
'Anticipating the arrival of the mighty charioteer, firm in truth, they engaged in reciting the Vedas, performing daily rituals, fulfilling their religious duties, observing sacred vows, and steadfastly abiding by the truth.' ॥ 3-161-11 ॥
english translation
savAdhyAyavantaH satatakriyAza ca; dharmapradhAnAza ca zucivratAza ca satye sathitAsa tasya mahArathasya; satyavratasyAgamana paratIkSAH ॥ 3-161-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइहैव हर्षॊ ऽसतु समागतानां; कषिप्रं कृतास्त्रेण धनंजयेन इति बरुवन्तः परमाशिषस ते; पार्थास तपॊयॊगपरा बभूवुः ॥ ३-१६१-१२ ॥
'Saying, 'Let us here experience joy by joining Arjuna, accomplished in arms, without delay,' those highly blessed Parthas devoted themselves to the practice of Yoga.' ॥ 3-161-12 ॥

ihaiva harSò 'satu samAgatAnAM; kaSipraM kRtAstreNa dhanaMjayena iti baruvantaH paramAziSasa te; pArthAsa tapòyògaparA babhUvuH ॥ 3-161-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदृष्ट्वा विचित्राणि गिरौ वनानि; किरीटिनं चिन्तयताम अभीक्ष्णम बभूव रात्रिर दिवसश च तेषां; संवत्सरेणैव समानरूपः ॥ ३-१६१-१३ ॥
'As they constantly thought of Kiriti, the romantic woods on that mountain seemed to transform every day and night into a full year for them.' ॥ 3-161-13 ॥

dRSTvA vicitrANi girau vanAni; kirITinaM cintayatAma abhIkSNama babhUva rAtrira divasaza ca teSAM; saMvatsareNaiva samAnarUpaH ॥ 3-161-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदैव दौम्यानुमते महात्मा; कृत्वा जटाः परव्रजितः स जिष्णुः तदैव तेषां न बभूव हर्षः; कुतॊ रतिस तद्गतमानसानाम ॥ ३-१६१-१४ ॥
'From that very moment, joy departed from them, when, with Dhaumya's permission, the high-souled Jishnu, having matted his hair, left for the woods. How then could they, absorbed in his contemplation, experience any happiness there?' ॥ 3-161-14 ॥

yadaiva daumyAnumate mahAtmA; kRtvA jaTAH paravrajitaH sa jiSNuH tadaiva teSAM na babhUva harSaH; kutò ratisa tadgatamAnasAnAma ॥ 3-161-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभरातुर नियॊगात तु युधिष्ठिरस्य; वनाद असौ वारणमत्तगामी यत काम्यकात परव्रजितः स जिष्णुस; तदैव ते शॊकहता बभूवुः ॥ ३-१६१-१५ ॥
'They were overwhelmed with grief from the moment when, at the command of his brother Yudhishthira, Jishnu, with the stride of a mad elephant, departed from the Kamyaka forest.' ॥ 3-161-15 ॥
