करीदा परदेशांश च समृद्धरूपान; सुचित्र माल्यावृत जातशॊभान मणिप्रवेकान सुमनॊहरांश च; यथा भवेयुर धनदस्य राज्ञः ।। ३-१६१-६ ।।

sanskrit

'The flourishing regions, adorned with a variety of flowers and abundant in gems, were so captivating that they could enchant even Kubera, the lord of wealth.' ।। 3-161-6 ।।

english translation

karIdA paradezAMza ca samRddharUpAna; sucitra mAlyAvRta jAtazòbhAna maNipravekAna sumanòharAMza ca; yathA bhaveyura dhanadasya rAjJaH || 3-161-6 ||

hk transliteration

अनेकवर्णैश च सुगन्धिभिश च; महाद्रुमैः संततम अभ्रमालिभिः तपः परधानाः सततं चरन्तः; शृङ्गं गिरेश चिन्तयितुं न शेकुः ।। ३-१६१-७ ।।

sanskrit

'Always wandering there, those foremost of ascetics (the Pandavas) were unable to comprehend the significance of that summit, adorned with mighty trees and vast, spreading clouds.' ।। 3-161-7 ।।

english translation

anekavarNaiza ca sugandhibhiza ca; mahAdrumaiH saMtatama abhramAlibhiH tapaH paradhAnAH satataM carantaH; zRGgaM gireza cintayituM na zekuH || 3-161-7 ||

hk transliteration

सवतेजसा तस्य गतॊत्तमस्य; महौषधीनां च तथा परभावात विभक्तभावॊ न बभूव कश चिद; अहर निशानां पुरुषप्रवीर ।। ३-१६१-८ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O great hero, due to its inherent splendor and the brilliance of the perennial plants, there was no distinction between night and day. Thus, no change occurred, even for the greatest of men.' ।। 3-161-8 ।।

english translation

savatejasA tasya gatòttamasya; mahauSadhInAM ca tathA parabhAvAta vibhaktabhAvò na babhUva kaza cida; ahara nizAnAM puruSapravIra || 3-161-8 ||

hk transliteration

यम आस्थितः सथावरजङ्गमानि; विभावसुर भावयते ऽमितौजः तस्यॊदयं चास्तमयं च वीरास; तत्र सथितास ते ददृशुर नृसिंहाः ।। ३-१६१-९ ।।

sanskrit

'The mighty/powerful Sun (Vibhavasu), established in his path (orbit), illuminates/nurtures all moving and non-moving beings (all creation). The brave ones, the lion among men (nrisimhas), stationed there, witnessed both his rise and setting.' ।। 3-161-9 ।।

english translation

yama AsthitaH sathAvarajaGgamAni; vibhAvasura bhAvayate 'mitaujaH tasyòdayaM cAstamayaM ca vIrAsa; tatra sathitAsa te dadRzura nRsiMhAH || 3-161-9 ||

रवे तमिस्रागम निर्गमांस ते; तथॊदयं चास्तमयं च वीराः समावृताः परेक्ष्य तमॊनुदस्य; गभस्तिजालैः परदिशॊ दिशश च ।। ३-१६१-१० ।।

sanskrit

'Having observed the points of sunrise and sunset, the mountain's rising and setting, and all the cardinal directions, along with the intervening spaces, constantly illuminated by the rays of the Dispeller of Darkness, with the directions illuminated by the bright beams of light.' ।। 3-161-10 ।।

rave tamisrAgama nirgamAMsa te; tathòdayaM cAstamayaM ca vIrAH samAvRtAH parekSya tamònudasya; gabhastijAlaiH paradizò dizaza ca || 3-161-10 ||
