Duryodhana will see the entire army disoriented, limbs severed and senses failing—its horses and foremost warriors brought low, its leading kings exhausted, thirst-stricken, and anguished by fear.

When he sees the cries of anguish, the hosts struck down and rendered powerless, and the battlefield strewn with hair, bones, and shattered skulls—like a grim enactment of the Creator’s ordinance—then the dull-minded one will repent.

english translation

When the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra sees, assembled together in battle, the Gāṇḍīva upon the chariot, Vāsudeva, the divine conch Pāñcajanya, the horses, the inexhaustible quivers, my conch Devadatta, and me—

english translation

When, like a power that overturns the assembled bands of aggressors and sets a new age in motion at the end of an era, I consume the Kauravas as fire does—then Dhṛtarāṣṭra, together with his sons, will be scorched by grief.

english translation

With his brothers, his sons, and his army—stripped of sovereignty, driven by wrath, and scant in judgment—when the end of his arrogance has been ordained, trembling, the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra will afterward repent.
