Sañjaya said: O Pāṇḍava, you inquire most fittingly about the Kurus and their foremost men. Those eminent Kurus of whom you ask, O Pārtha, are well and steadfast in spirit, dear one.

english translation

Among the Dhārtarāṣṭras there are indeed elders who are virtuous; and there are also those ethically compromised—know this, O Pāṇḍava. Dhṛtarāṣṭra would grant a share even to an adversary; how then would he withhold the rightful dues of brāhmaṇas?

english translation

If, in your case, he behaves in a manner not consistent with dharma—treating the unoffending as though they were offenders—that is not commendable. Dhṛtarāṣṭra, together with his son, would then become a betrayer of allies, hating you who conduct yourselves virtuously, and thus acting without virtue.

english translation

And he does not fully consent; the aged Ajātaśatru is deeply distressed and grieves inwardly. For he hears, upon meeting with brāhmaṇas, that betrayal of allies is graver than other transgressions.

english translation

O king, they remember you in assemblies, and they remember Bhīmasena, the mace-bearer, in the engagements of war—when the sound of drums and conches rises high—and they also remember Jiṣṇu, the leader among combatants.
