Vāsudeva said: Though Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Vidura, Gāndhārī, and Dhṛtarāṣṭra spoke in this manner, the foolish one did not understand and did not take heed.

english translation

Shaking himself off, he rose in fury, his eyes reddened with wrath. After him the kings rushed on, resolved to stake their very lives.

english translation

Again and again he issued orders to those kings of hostile intent: “Proceed to Kurukṣetra; today is Puṣya.”

english translation

Then those rulers departed with their forces, appointing Bhīṣma as commander; they advanced with heightened resolve, as if impelled by time itself.

english translation

Eleven akṣauhiṇīs of the kings assembled. At their forefront Bhīṣma—marked by the palm-banner—stood conspicuous. “O lord of the people, arrange what is proper and what the situation requires here.”
