दुर्योधन उवाच । सदृशानां मनुष्येषु सर्वेषां तुल्यजन्मनाम् । कथमेकान्ततस्तेषां पार्थानां मन्यसे जयम्॥५-६२-१॥
Duryodhana said: Among men who are alike, all of equal birth, how can you deem that victory belongs decisively to those Pārthas?
english translation
सर्वे स्म समजातीयाः सर्वे मानुषयोनयः । पितामह विजानीषे पार्थेषु विजयं कथम्॥५-६२-२॥
All of us are of the same kind; all are born of human stock. O grandsire, how do you determine that victory lies with the Pārthas?
english translation
नाहं भवति न द्रोणे न कृपे न च बाह्लिके । अन्येषु च नरेन्द्रेषु पराक्रम्य समारभे॥५-६२-३॥
I do not set my enterprise against Bhava, nor against Droṇa, nor against Kṛpa, nor against Bāhlīka; rather, having displayed my prowess, I will undertake it against other kings.
english translation
अहं वैकर्तनः कर्णो भ्राता दुःशासनश्च मे । पाण्डवान्समरे पञ्च हनिष्यामः शितैः शरैः॥५-६२-४॥
I am Karṇa, Vaikartana, the son of the charioteer, and my brother is Duḥśāsana. In battle we shall strike down the five Pāṇḍavas with sharp arrows.
english translation
ततो राजन्महायज्ञैर्विविधैर्भूरिदक्षिणैः । ब्राह्मणांस्तर्पयिष्यामि गोभिरश्वैर्धनेन च॥५-६२-५॥
Then, O king, by various great sacrifices, with abundant honoraria (dakṣiṇā), I shall satisfy the Brahmins—with cattle, horses, and wealth as well.
