Sañjaya said: Hearing that utterance of Duryodhana, the bull among the Bharatas looked upon Kaitavya with eyes intensely reddened by agitation.

english translation

Then the illustrious Guḍākeśa, looking toward Keśava, addressed Kaitavya, raising his mighty arm.

english translation

He who, relying on his own strength, challenges others—fearless and fully exerting his capacity—he is truly called a man.

english translation

But he who, relying on another’s strength, challenges others—being, through incapacity, a mere ‘kinsman of kṣatriyas’ (kṣatrabandhu)—is regarded in the world as the lowest of men.

english translation

Yet you, through others’ valor, imagine it to be your own; yourself timid and deluded, you still wish to disparage others.
