If my son, of impaired judgment and contrary intent, does not refrain from going to armed engagement with those two, then, Sañjaya, they may consume the Kurus—just as Indra and Viṣṇu once consumed the host of Dāityas. For in my view Dhanañjaya is equal to Śakra, and the Vṛṣṇi hero is the eternal Viṣṇu.

english translation

The Pāṇḍava Ajātaśatru, Kuntī’s son—one who delights in dharma, restrained by modesty, and possessed of vigor—has been deceived by Duryodhana. If he becomes angered, he may consume the Dhārtarāṣṭras.

english translation

Charioteer’s son, I do not fear Arjuna, Vāsudeva, Bhīma, or even the twin sons of Kuntī as much as I continually fear the king’s resentment when his anger is inflamed.

english translation

Even if one were endowed with austerity and disciplined continence, this mental resolve of his would still come to fruition. Knowing the king’s anger and its proper occasion, Sañjaya, I am deeply apprehensive today.

english translation

Go quickly, dispatched in a chariot, and reach the army of the king of Pāñcāla. Ask Ajātaśatru (Yudhiṣṭhira) after his welfare, and speak to him repeatedly with goodwill.
