[पुलस्त्य] ततॊ गच्छेत धर्मज्ञ धर्मतीर्थं पुरातनम तत्र सनात्वा नरॊ राजन धर्मशीलः समाहितः आ सप्तमं कुलं राजन पुनीते नात्र संशयः ।। ३-८२-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Pulastya said, 'Then, O great king, one should go to the revered tirtha of Dharma, where the illustrious god of justice performed his highly meritorious austerities. It is for this reason that he consecrated the spot, rendering it sacred and celebrated by his own name. Bathing there, O king, a virtuous person with a focused mind surely sanctifies his family for seven generations.'' ।। 3-82-1 ।।

english translation

[pulastya] tatò gaccheta dharmajJa dharmatIrthaM purAtanama tatra sanAtvA narò rAjana dharmazIlaH samAhitaH A saptamaM kulaM rAjana punIte nAtra saMzayaH || 3-82-1 ||

hk transliteration

ततॊ गच्छेत धर्मज्ञ कारा पतनम उत्तमम अग्निष्टॊमम अवाप्नॊति मुनिलॊकं च गच्छति ।। ३-८२-२ ।।

sanskrit

'One should then proceed, O king, to the revered Jnanapavana. By sojourning there, one attains the merit of the Agnishtoma sacrifice and ascends to the realm of the sages.' ।। 3-82-2 ।।

english translation

tatò gaccheta dharmajJa kArA patanama uttamama agniSTòmama avApnòti munilòkaM ca gacchati || 3-82-2 ||

hk transliteration

सौगन्धिकं वनं राजंस ततॊ गच्छेत मानवः यत्र बरह्मादयॊ देवा ऋषयश च तपॊधनाः ।। ३-८२-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, O monarch, one should proceed to the Saugandhika forest. There reside the celestials, led by Brahma, along with the Rishis endowed with ascetic wealth.' ।। 3-82-3 ।।

english translation

saugandhikaM vanaM rAjaMsa tatò gaccheta mAnavaH yatra barahmAdayò devA RSayaza ca tapòdhanAH || 3-82-3 ||

hk transliteration

सिद्धचारणगन्धर्वाः किंनराः स महॊरगाः तद वनं परविशन्न एव सर्वपापैः परमुच्यते ।। ३-८२-४ ।।

sanskrit

'The Siddhas, Charanas, Gandharvas, Kinnaras, and great serpents all dwell in that forest. Entering that forest, one is liberated from all sins.' ।। 3-82-4 ।।

english translation

siddhacAraNagandharvAH kiMnarAH sa mahòragAH tada vanaM paravizanna eva sarvapApaiH paramucyate || 3-82-4 ||

hk transliteration

ततॊ हि सा सरिच्छ्रेष्ठा नदीनाम उत्तमा नदी पलक्षाद देवी सरुता राजन महापुण्या सरस्वती ।। ३-८२-५ ।।

sanskrit

'As soon as one enters these woods, he is purified of all sins. Then, O king, one should proceed to the sacred goddess Saraswati, known there as the goddess Plaksha, the best of streams and the foremost of rivers.' ।। 3-82-5 ।।

english translation

tatò hi sA saricchreSThA nadInAma uttamA nadI palakSAda devI sarutA rAjana mahApuNyA sarasvatI || 3-82-5 ||
