कथम एका सती भैमी मया विरहिता शुभा चरिष्यति वने घॊरे मृगव्यालनिषेविते ।। ३-५९-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'How will the beautiful daughter of Bhima, devoted to her lord, manage to navigate these dense woods, teeming with beasts and serpents, all alone and separated from me?' ।। 3-59-21 ।।

english translation

kathama ekA satI bhaimI mayA virahitA zubhA cariSyati vane ghòre mRgavyAlaniSevite || 3-59-21 ||

hk transliteration

गत्वा गत्वा नलॊ राजा पुनर एति सभां मुहुः आकृष्यमाणः कलिना सौहृदेनापकृष्यते ।। ३-५९-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'O blessed one, may the Adityas, the Vasus, the twin Ashvins, and the Marutas protect you, for your virtue is your greatest safeguard.' Thus addressing his beloved wife, unparalleled in beauty on earth, Nala, overwhelmed by Kali, struggled to depart.' ।। 3-59-22 ।।

english translation

gatvA gatvA nalò rAjA punara eti sabhAM muhuH AkRSyamANaH kalinA sauhRdenApakRSyate || 3-59-22 ||

hk transliteration

दविधेव हृदयं तस्य दुःखितस्याभवत तदा दॊलेव मुहुर आयाति याति चैव सभां मुहुः ।। ३-५९-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'Yet, as he left, he found himself drawn back time and again to that shed, torn between the pull of Kali and the strength of his love.' ।। 3-59-23 ।।

english translation

davidheva hRdayaM tasya duHkhitasyAbhavata tadA dòleva muhura AyAti yAti caiva sabhAM muhuH || 3-59-23 ||

hk transliteration

सॊ ऽपकृष्टस तु कलिना मॊहितः पराद्रवन नलः सुप्ताम उत्सृज्य तां भार्यां विलप्य करुणं बहु ।। ३-५९-२४ ।।

sanskrit

'It seemed as though the heart of the wretched king was torn in two, as he swung back and forth, repeatedly leaving and returning to the cabin. After lamenting for a long time, filled with deep sorrow, Nala, stupefied and bereft of sense by Kali, ultimately departed, forsaking his sleeping wife.' ।। 3-59-24 ।।

english translation

sò 'pakRSTasa tu kalinA mòhitaH parAdravana nalaH suptAma utsRjya tAM bhAryAM vilapya karuNaM bahu || 3-59-24 ||

hk transliteration

नष्टात्मा कलिना सपृष्टस तत तद विगणयन नृपः जगामैव वने शून्ये भार्याम उत्सृज्य दुःखितः ।। ३-५९-२५ ।।

sanskrit

'Overwhelmed by Kali's influence and reflecting on his actions, the king left in anguish, leaving his beloved alone in that desolate forest.' ।। 3-59-25 ।।
