[वै] स ददर्श पुरीं रम्यां सिद्धचारणसेविताम सर्वर्तुकुसुमैः पुण्यैः पादपैर उपशॊभिताम ॥ ३-४४-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "The city of Indra that Arjuna beheld was enchanting, a sanctuary for Siddhas and Charanas. It was embellished with blossoms of every season and sacred trees of diverse kinds, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty."' ॥ 3-44-1 ॥
english translation
तत्र सौगन्धिकानां स दरुमाणां पुण्यगन्धिनाम उपवीज्यमानॊ मिश्रेण वायुना पुण्यगन्धिना ॥ ३-४४-२ ॥
'There, he was fanned by a fragrant breeze, Mixed with the aroma of saugandika trees with their sacred scent.' ॥ 3-44-2 ॥
english translation
नन्दनं च वनं दिव्यम अप्सरॊगणसेवितम ददर्श दिव्यकुसुमैर आह्वयद्भिर इव दरुमैः ॥ ३-४४-३ ॥
'And he also beheld the celestial gardens known as Nandana, the cherished abode of Apsaras. The trees, adorned with divine blossoms, swayed gently in the fragrant breezes, which carried the delicate perfume of sweet flowers, as if welcoming him into their midst.' ॥ 3-44-3 ॥
english translation
नातप्त तपसा शक्यॊ दरष्टुं नानाहिताग्निना स लॊकः पुण्यकर्तॄणां नापि युद्धपराङ्मुखैः ॥ ३-४४-४ ॥
'This realm can be seen only by those who have undergone ascetic austerities or have offered libations to the fire. It is a sanctuary reserved for the virtuous, not for those who have forsaken the battlefield.' ॥ 3-44-4 ॥
english translation
नायज्वभिर नानृतकैर न वेदश्रुतिवर्जितैः नाना पलुताङ्गैस तीर्थेषु यज्ञदानबहिष कृतैः ॥ ३-४४-५ ॥
'Not by those who do not perform sacrifices, nor by those who speak falsehoods, Nor by those devoid of Vedic learning, Nor by those with impure limbs, nor by those excluded from sacrifices and charity at sacred places.' ॥ 3-44-5 ॥
