सततं यश च कामार्थी नेतराव अनुतिष्ठति मित्राणि तस्य नश्यन्ति धर्मार्थाब्भ्यां च हीयते ॥ ३-३४-२६ ॥
'One who continually pursues pleasure without seeking virtue and wealth will ultimately lose both friends and both virtue and wealth.' ॥ 3-34-26 ॥
english translation
satataM yaza ca kAmArthI netarAva anutiSThati mitrANi tasya nazyanti dharmArthAbbhyAM ca hIyate ॥ 3-34-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य धर्मार्थहीनस्य कामान्ते निधनं धरुवम कामतॊ रममाणस्य मीनस्येवाम्भसः कषये ॥ ३-३४-२७ ॥
'Devoid of virtue and wealth, such a man, who indulges in pleasure at will, will face certain death once his time of indulgence ends, just as a fish meets its end when the water it lives in dries up.' ॥ 3-34-27 ॥
english translation
tasya dharmArthahInasya kAmAnte nidhanaM dharuvama kAmatò ramamANasya mInasyevAmbhasaH kaSaye ॥ 3-34-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्माद धर्मार्थयॊर नित्यं न परमाद्यन्ति पण्डिताः परकृतिः सा हि कामस्य पावकस्यारणिर यथा ॥ ३-३४-२८ ॥
'For these reasons, the wise are always diligent about both virtue and wealth, for the combination of virtue and wealth is essential for true pleasure, just as fuel is essential for fire.' ॥ 3-34-28 ॥
english translation
tasmAda dharmArthayòra nityaM na paramAdyanti paNDitAH parakRtiH sA hi kAmasya pAvakasyAraNira yathA ॥ 3-34-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसर्वथा धर्ममूलॊ ऽरथॊ धर्मश चार्थपरिग्रहः इतरेतर यॊनी तौ विद्धि मेघॊदधी यथा ॥ ३-३४-२९ ॥
'Pleasure is always rooted in virtue, and virtue is closely connected with pleasure. Know, O monarch, that they are mutually dependent, like the ocean and the clouds, where the ocean gives rise to the clouds, and the clouds replenish the ocean.' ॥ 3-34-29 ॥

sarvathA dharmamUlò 'rathò dharmaza cArthaparigrahaH itaretara yònI tau viddhi meghòdadhI yathA ॥ 3-34-29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदरव्यार्थ सपर्शसंयॊगे या परीतिर उपजायते स कामश चित्तसंकल्पः शरीरं नास्य विद्यते ॥ ३-३४-३० ॥
'The joy one experiences from the contact with objects of touch or the possession of wealth is known as pleasure. It resides in the mind, without any physical form that can be seen.' ॥ 3-34-30 ॥
