सततं यश च कामार्थी नेतराव अनुतिष्ठति मित्राणि तस्य नश्यन्ति धर्मार्थाब्भ्यां च हीयते ।। ३-३४-२६ ।।

'One who continually pursues pleasure without seeking virtue and wealth will ultimately lose both friends and both virtue and wealth.' ।। 3-34-26 ।।

english translation

satataM yaza ca kAmArthI netarAva anutiSThati mitrANi tasya nazyanti dharmArthAbbhyAM ca hIyate || 3-34-26 ||

'Devoid of virtue and wealth, such a man, who indulges in pleasure at will, will face certain death once his time of indulgence ends, just as a fish meets its end when the water it lives in dries up.' ।। 3-34-27 ।।

tasya dharmArthahInasya kAmAnte nidhanaM dharuvama kAmatò ramamANasya mInasyevAmbhasaH kaSaye || 3-34-27 ||

'Pleasure is always rooted in virtue, and virtue is closely connected with pleasure. Know, O monarch, that they are mutually dependent, like the ocean and the clouds, where the ocean gives rise to the clouds, and the clouds replenish the ocean.' ।। 3-34-29 ।।
