[वै] उपासीनेषु विप्रेषु पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु दरौपदी सत्यभामा च विविशाते तदा समम जाहस्यमाने सुप्रीते सुखं तत्र निषीदतुः ॥ ३-२२२-१ ॥

'Among the seated Brahmins and noble Pandavas, Draupadi and Satyabhama then entered together. Laughing and delighted, they sat comfortably.' ॥ 3-222-1 ॥

english translation

[vai] upAsIneSu vipreSu pANDaveSu mahAtmasu daraupadI satyabhAmA ca vivizAte tadA samama jAhasyamAne suprIte sukhaM tatra niSIdatuH ॥ 3-222-1 ॥

चिरस्य दृष्ट्वा राजेन्द्र ते ऽनयॊन्यस्य परियंवदे कथयाम आसतुश चैत्राः कथाः कुरु यदुक्षिताम ॥ ३-२२२-२ ॥

'O great king, after a long time seeing each other, those from Chaitra sat together and began to converse about the tales of the Yadus.' ॥ 3-222-2 ॥

cirasya dRSTvA rAjendra te 'nayònyasya pariyaMvade kathayAma Asatuza caitrAH kathAH kuru yadukSitAma ॥ 3-222-2 ॥

अथाब्रवीत सत्यभामा कृष्णस्य महिषी परिया सात्राजिती याज्ञसेनीं रहसीदं सुमध्यमा ॥ ३-२२२-३ ॥

'Then the graceful Satyabhāmā, Krishna’s beloved wife and the daughter of Satrājit, spoke to Draupadī in private.' ॥ 3-222-3 ॥

केन दरौपदि वृत्तेन पाण्डवान उपतिष्ठसि लॊकपालॊपमान वीरान यूनः परमसंमतान कथं च वशगास तुभ्यं न कुप्यन्ति च ते शुभे ॥ ३-२२२-४ ॥

'O daughter of Drupada, by what conduct do you hold sway over the sons of Pāṇḍu—those mighty heroes, endowed with strength and beauty, and comparable to the guardians of the world? O fair one, how is it that they remain so devoted to you and never grow angry with you?' ॥ 3-222-4 ॥

kena daraupadi vRttena pANDavAna upatiSThasi lòkapAlòpamAna vIrAna yUnaH paramasaMmatAna kathaM ca vazagAsa tubhyaM na kupyanti ca te zubhe ॥ 3-222-4 ॥

तव वश्याहि सततं पाण्डवाः परियदर्शने मुखप्रेक्षाश च ते सर्वे तत्त्वम एतद बरवीहि मे ॥ ३-२२२-५ ॥

'Without a doubt, O lady of lovely features, the sons of Pāṇḍu are ever devoted to you and eager to fulfill your wishes. Pray, tell me the reason for this.' ॥ 3-222-5 ॥
