अनाद्य अन्ता तु सा तृष्णा अन्तर देहगता नृणाम विनाशयति संभूता अयॊनिज इवानलः ॥ ३-२-३६ ॥
'It has neither beginning nor end. Residing in the heart, it destroys beings like a fire of intangible origin.' ॥ 3-2-36 ॥
english translation
anAdya antA tu sA tRSNA antara dehagatA nRNAma vinAzayati saMbhUtA ayònija ivAnalaH ॥ 3-2-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथैधः सवसमुत्थेन वह्निना नाशम ऋच्छति तथाकृतात्मा लॊभेन सहजेन विनश्यति ॥ ३-२-३७ ॥
'Just as a bundle of wood is consumed by a fire that feeds on itself, so too does a person with an impure soul face destruction from the covetousness born of their own heart.' ॥ 3-2-37 ॥
english translation
yathaidhaH savasamutthena vahninA nAzama Rcchati tathAkRtAtmA lòbhena sahajena vinazyati ॥ 3-2-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजतः सलिलाद अग्नेश चॊरतः सवजनाद अपि भयम अर्थवतां नित्यं मृत्यॊः पराणभृताम इव ॥ ३-२-३८ ॥
'Just as living beings are perpetually fearful of death, so too are wealthy individuals constantly apprehensive of threats from the king, thieves, water, fire, and even their own relatives.' ॥ 3-2-38 ॥
english translation
rAjataH salilAda agneza còrataH savajanAda api bhayama arthavatAM nityaM mRtyòH parANabhRtAma iva ॥ 3-2-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथा हय आमिषम आकाशे पक्षिभिः शवापदैर भुवि भक्ष्यते सलिले मत्स्यैस तथा सर्वेण वित्तवान ॥ ३-२-३९ ॥
'Like a piece of meat, which is in danger of being consumed by birds if it is in the air, by beasts if it is on the ground, or by fish if it is in water, a person of wealth faces dangers wherever they go.' ॥ 3-2-39 ॥

yathA haya AmiSama AkAze pakSibhiH zavApadaira bhuvi bhakSyate salile matsyaisa tathA sarveNa vittavAna ॥ 3-2-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअर्थ एव हि केषां चिद अनर्थॊ भविता नृणाम अर्थश्रेयसि चासक्तॊ न शरेयॊ विन्दते नरः तस्माद अर्थागमाः सर्वे मनॊ मॊहविवर्धनाः ॥ ३-२-४० ॥
'For many, their wealth becomes a source of misfortune. Those who see happiness solely in wealth and become attached to it fail to understand true happiness. Thus, the accumulation of wealth is often seen as increasing both greed and folly.' ॥ 3-2-40 ॥

artha eva hi keSAM cida anarthò bhavitA nRNAma arthazreyasi cAsaktò na zareyò vindate naraH tasmAda arthAgamAH sarve manò mòhavivardhanAH ॥ 3-2-40 ॥
