परेण हि हतान बरह्मन वराहमहिषान अहम न सवयं हन्मि विप्रर्षे विक्रीणामि सदा तव अहम ॥ ३-१९८-३१ ॥
'As for myself, O Brahmana, I always sell pork and buffalo meat, but I do not slay those animals myself. I sell the meat of animals that have been slain by others, O regenerate Rishi.' ॥ 3-198-31 ॥
english translation
न भक्षयामि मांसानि ऋतुगामी तथा हय अहम सदॊपवासी च तथा नक्तभॊजी तथा दविज ॥ ३-१९८-३२ ॥
'I never eat meat myself; I never approach my wife except during her season; I always fast during the day, and, O regenerate one, I eat only at night.' ॥ 3-198-32 ॥
english translation
अशीलश चापि पुरुषॊ भूत्वा भवति शीलवान पराणि हिंसा रतश चापि भवते धार्मिकः पुनः ॥ ३-१९८-३३ ॥
'Even if a person's conduct aligns poorly with his order, he may still exhibit good behavior. Similarly, a person may become virtuous, even if he is a slayer of animals by profession.' ॥ 3-198-33 ॥
english translation
वयभिचारान नरेन्द्राणां धर्मः संकीर्यते महान अधर्मॊ वर्धते चापि संकीर्यन्ते तथा परजाः ॥ ३-१९८-३४ ॥
'It is due to the sinful actions of kings that virtue greatly diminishes, while sin begins to flourish. When this occurs, the subjects of the kingdom start to decline.' ॥ 3-198-34 ॥
english translation
उरुण्डा वामनाः कुब्जाः सथूलशीर्षास तथैव च कलीबाश चान्धाश च जायन्ते बधिरा लम्बचूचुकाः पार्थिवानाम अधर्मत्वात परजानाम अभवः सदा ॥ ३-१९८-३५ ॥
'It is then, O Brahmana, that malformed creatures—monsters, dwarfs, hunchbacks, and those with large heads, as well as the blind, deaf, those with paralyzed eyes, or those lacking the power of procreation—begin to be born. It is due to the sinfulness of kings that their subjects endure numerous misfortunes.' ॥ 3-198-35 ॥
