तेषु करॊधाग्निदग्धेषु तदा भरतसत्तम तं परबुद्धं महात्मानं कुम्भकर्णम इवापरम आससाद महातेजा कुवलाश्वॊ महीपतिः ।। ३-१९५-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O best of the Bharatas, when all the sons of King Kuvalaswa were consumed by the fiery wrath of the Asura, the king, endowed with immense energy, approached the Danava, who, like a second Kumbhakarna of great might, had risen from his slumber to face the encounter.' ।। 3-195-26 ।।

english translation

teSu karòdhAgnidagdheSu tadA bharatasattama taM parabuddhaM mahAtmAnaM kumbhakarNama ivAparama AsasAda mahAtejA kuvalAzvò mahIpatiH || 3-195-26 ||

hk transliteration

तस्य वारि महाराज सुस्राव बहु देहतः तद आपीयत तत तेजॊ राजा वारिमयं नृप यॊगी यॊगेन वह्निं च शमयाम आस वारिणा ।। ३-१९५-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'O monarch, from the body of the king flowed a mighty and abundant stream of water, which swiftly extinguished the fiery flames emitted by the Asura. O great king, the royal Kuvalaswa, filled with yogic power, quenched the flames by the water that flowed from his body.' ।। 3-195-27 ।।

english translation

tasya vAri mahArAja susrAva bahu dehataH tada ApIyata tata tejò rAjA vArimayaM nRpa yògI yògena vahniM ca zamayAma Asa vAriNA || 3-195-27 ||

hk transliteration

बरह्मास्त्रेण तदा राजा दैत्यं करूप पराक्रमम ददाह भरतश्रेष्ठ सर्वलॊकाभयाय वै ।। ३-१९५-२८ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, with the celebrated Brahmastra, he consumed the Daitya of wicked might, relieving the triple world of its fears.' ।। 3-195-28 ।।

english translation

barahmAstreNa tadA rAjA daityaM karUpa parAkramama dadAha bharatazreSTha sarvalòkAbhayAya vai || 3-195-28 ||

सॊ ऽसत्रेण दग्ध्वा राजर्षिः कुवलाश्वॊ महासुरम सुरशत्रुम अमित्रघ्नस तरिलॊकेश इवापरः धुधुमार इति खयातॊ नाम्ना समभवत ततः ।। ३-१९५-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'After vanquishing that great Asura, the enemy of the celestials and slayer of all foes, the mighty Kuvalaswa became as if a second sovereign of the triple world, his soul exalted in victory.' ।। 3-195-29 ।।

english translation

sò 'satreNa dagdhvA rAjarSiH kuvalAzvò mahAsurama surazatruma amitraghnasa tarilòkeza ivAparaH dhudhumAra iti khayAtò nAmnA samabhavata tataH || 3-195-29 ||

hk transliteration

परीतैश च तरिदशैः सर्वैर महर्षिसहितैस तदा वरं वृणीष्वेत्य उक्तः स पराञ्जलिः परणतस तदा अतीव मुदितॊ राजन्न इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ।। ३-१९५-३० ।।

sanskrit

'From that time, he became known by the name of Dhundhumara and was regarded as invincible in battle. The gods and great sages, who had come to witness the encounter, were so pleased with him that they addressed him, saying, 'Ask of us a boon!' Thus solicited by the gods, the king bowed to them, and filled with joy, he spoke these words to them with joined hands.' ।। 3-195-30 ।।

parItaiza ca taridazaiH sarvaira maharSisahitaisa tadA varaM vRNISvetya uktaH sa parAJjaliH paraNatasa tadA atIva muditò rAjanna idaM vacanama abravIta || 3-195-30 ||
