तत्र तं पराक्षिपच चापि मनुः परपुरंजय अथावर्धत मत्स्यः स पुनर वर्षगणान बहून ।। ३-१८५-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus asked, the righteous, self-controlled, and venerable Manu took the fish to the sacred river Ganga and, with his own hands, placed it in the waters. There, O conqueror of your enemies, the fish grew once more for a while.' ।। 3-185-16 ।।

english translation

दवियॊजनायता वापी विस्तृता चापि यॊजनम तस्यां नासौ समभवन मत्स्यॊ राजीवलॊचन विचेष्टितुं वा कौन्तेय मत्स्यॊ वाप्यां विशां पते ।। ३-१८५-१७ ।।

sanskrit

'The pond was two yojanas in length (द्वियोजनायता) and one yojana in width (विस्तृता चापि योजनम). But even in that, O lotus-eyed one (राजीवलोचन), that fish (नासौ मत्स्यः) could not remain comfortably (समभवन्). O Kaunteya (कौन्तेय), O lord of people (विशां पते), the fish could not move freely (विचेष्टितुं) in that pond.' ।। 3-185-17 ।।

'Seeing Manu, the fish spoke again, saying, "O revered one, O Lord, I shall dwell in the ocean, the consort of the mighty ocean-lord. Let me live there, as thou deemest fit, O father."' ।। 3-185-18 ।।

english translation

manuM matyasa tatò dRSTvA punara evAbhyabhASata nayamAM bhagavana sAdhò samudramahiSIM parabhò gaGgAM tatra nivatsyAmi yathA vA tAta manyase || 3-185-18 ||

'Thus addressed, the revered Manu, the divine ruler, took the fish and himself placed it into the river Ganga, the eternal one, with his own hands.' ।। 3-185-19 ।।
