उदकान्तम उपानीय मत्स्यं वैवस्वतॊ मनुः अलिञ्जरे पराक्षिपत स चन्द्रांशुसदृशप्रभम ॥ ३-१८५-११ ॥

'The fish, whose body shimmered like the moon’s rays, was gently placed in an earthen water-vessel after being taken out of the water.' ॥ 3-185-11 ॥

'There, O king, the fish grew greatly, honored as it was, and it spoke to Manu in a special manner, addressing him as a son.' ॥ 3-185-12 ॥

'"Worshipful sir, kindly provide me with a more suitable dwelling," said the fish. Thereupon, the venerable Manu, the conqueror of hostile cities, lifted the fish from the vessel and carried it to a large tank, where he placed it. In that new home, the fish continued to grow for many long years.' ॥ 3-185-13 ॥

'Beholding Manu, the fish spoke again, saying, "O pious and revered one, take me to the Ganga, the beloved consort of the Ocean, that I may dwell there; or do as you deem fit."' ॥ 3-185-14 ॥
