हित्वा किरात रूपं च भगवांस तरिदशेश्वरः सवरूपं दिव्यम आस्थाय तस्थौ तत्र महेश्वरः ॥ ३-१६३-४१ ॥
'Having thus accomplished his purpose, O illustrious monarch, the divine one assumed a different, celestial form, adorned in marvelous attire.' ॥ 3-163-41 ॥
english translation
अदृश्यत ततः साक्षाद भगवान गॊवृषध्वजः उमा सहायॊ हरि दृग बहुरूपः पिनाक धृक ॥ ३-१६३-४२ ॥
'Renouncing his guise as a hunter, that supreme lord of the gods resumed his true, divine appearance, standing before me in all his might. Then, before me appeared that manifest divine being, accompanied by Uma, marked by the bull, wielding the Pinaka, adorned with serpents, and capable of assuming many forms.' ॥ 3-163-42 ॥
english translation
स माम अभ्येत्य समरे तथैवाभिमुखं सथितम शूलपाणिर अथॊवाच तुष्टॊ ऽसमीति परंतप ॥ ३-१६३-४३ ॥
'And, O crusher of foes, advancing towards me and standing in the battlefield, ready for combat, that trident-wielder spoke to me, saying, "I am pleased with thee."' ॥ 3-163-43 ॥
english translation
ततस तद धनुर आदाय तूणौ चाक्षय्य सायकौ परादान ममैव भगवान वरयस्वेति चाब्रवीत ॥ ३-१६३-४४ ॥
'Then that divine being, taking up my bow and the two inexhaustible quivers filled with arrows, returned them to me, saying, "O son of Kunti, ask for a boon. I am well-pleased with thee."' ॥ 3-163-44 ॥
english translation
तुष्टॊ ऽसमि तव कौन्तेय बरूहि किं करवाणि ते यत ते मनॊगतं वीर तद बरूहि वितराम्य अहम अमरत्वम अपाहाय बरूहि यत ते मनॊगतम ॥ ३-१६३-४५ ॥
'Tell me what I shall do for you. O hero, express the desire that resides in your heart, and I shall grant it. Except for immortality alone, speak of the wish that you hold dear.' ॥ 3-163-45 ॥
