ततः पराञ्जलिर एवाहम अस्त्रेषु गतमानसः परणम्य शिरसा शर्वं ततॊ वचनम आददे ॥ ३-१६३-४६ ॥

'Thereupon, with my mind focused on obtaining weapons, I bowed down to Lord Shiva and said.' ॥ 3-163-46 ॥

english translation

भगवान मे परसन्नश चेद ईप्सितॊ ऽयं वरॊ मम अस्त्राणीच्छाम्य अहं जञातुं यानि देवेषु कानि चित ददानीत्य एव भगवान अब्रवीत तर्यम्बकश च माम ॥ ३-१६३-४७ ॥

'"O divine one, if thou art gracious towards me, then I ask for this boon: I wish to learn all the weapons possessed by thy divine self." Thereupon, the Three-eyed Lord spoke unto me.' ॥ 3-163-47 ॥

english translation

रौद्रम अस्त्रं मदीयं तवाम उपस्थास्यति पाण्डव परददौ च मम परीतः सॊ ऽसत्रं पाशुपतं परभुः ॥ ३-१६३-४८ ॥

'"I will give you, O Pandava, my own weapon, Raudra, to attend upon you." Thereupon, Mahadeva, well-pleased, granted me the mighty Pashupata weapon.' ॥ 3-163-48 ॥

english translation

उवाच च महादेवॊ दत्त्वा मे ऽसत्रं सनातनम न परयॊज्यं भवेद एतन मानुषेषु कथं चन ॥ ३-१६३-४९ ॥

'Having bestowed upon me the eternal weapon, he further said, "This weapon must never be wielded against mortals."' ॥ 3-163-49 ॥

english translation

पीड्यमानेन बलवत परयॊज्यं ते धनंजय अस्त्राणां परतिघाते च सर्वथैव परयॊजयेः ॥ ३-१६३-५० ॥

'If discharged against one of little power, it would destroy the entire universe. However, if you ever find yourself in a dire strait, you may use it. When all your other weapons have been rendered ineffective, you may release this one.' ॥ 3-163-50 ॥
