हिरण्यसदृशैः पुष्पैर दावाग्निसदृशैर अपि लॊहितैर अञ्जनाभैश च वैडूर्य ददृशैर अपि ।। ३-१५५-६१ ।।

sanskrit

'On the slopes of the mountain, there were various blossoming trees, each more enchanting than the last. Some bore golden-hued flowers, while others were tinged with the fiery red of a forest conflagration, some were dark like sable, and others, green as lapis lazuli.' ।। 3-155-61 ।।

english translation

hiraNyasadRzaiH puSpaira dAvAgnisadRzaira api lòhitaira aJjanAbhaiza ca vaiDUrya dadRzaira api || 3-155-61 ||

hk transliteration

तथा शालांस तमालांश च पाटल्यॊ बकुलानि च माला इव समासक्ताः शैलानां शिखरेषु च ।। ३-१५५-६२ ।।

sanskrit

'Alongside these, there were rows of salas, tamalas, patalas, and vakula trees, resembling garlands draped over the mountain's peaks.' ।। 3-155-62 ।।

english translation

tathA zAlAMsa tamAlAMza ca pATalyò bakulAni ca mAlA iva samAsaktAH zailAnAM zikhareSu ca || 3-155-62 ||

एवं करमेण ते वीरा वीक्षमाणाः समन्ततः गजसंघ समाबाधं सिंहव्याघ्र समायुतम ।। ३-१५५-६३ ।।

sanskrit

'In this manner, those brave heroes, looking around in all directions, found themselves in a place crowded with herds of elephants, accompanied by lions and tigers.' ।। 3-155-63 ।।

evaM karameNa te vIrA vIkSamANAH samantataH gajasaMgha samAbAdhaM siMhavyAghra samAyutama || 3-155-63 ||

शरभॊन्नाद संघुष्टं नानाराव निनादितम सर्वर्तुफलपुष्पाढ्यं गन्धमादन सानुषु ।। ३-१५५-६४ ।।

sanskrit

'These lakes, teeming with swans of white plumage and echoing with the calls of cranes, were adorned with blooming lotuses and lilies, their waters cool and soothing to the touch. The air was filled with the fragrance of flowers, and the trees bore luscious fruits.' ।। 3-155-64 ।।

'Enchanted by the serene beauty of the landscape, the Pandavas ventured deeper into the forest, their eyes wide with awe and wonder. As they continued, a gentle breeze caressed them, its touch soothing and fragrant with the scents of kamalas, utpalas, kalharas, and pundarikas. Then, Yudhishthira, with a sense of delight, turned to Bhima and said, "Ah, Bhima, this forest of Gandhamadana is truly beautiful."' ।। 3-155-65 ।।
