निरीक्षन्तम अवित्रस्तं लॊचनैर मधुपिङ्गलैः तं वानरवरं वीरम अतिकायं महाबलम ॥ ३-१४६-७१ ॥
'The slayer of foes cast glances with eyes reddened by intoxication. The wise Bhima, noticing the mighty chief of monkeys, of immense stature, lying in the forest like the great Himalayas, blocking the path to heaven, observed him alone in that vast wilderness.' ॥ 3-146-71 ॥
english translation
nirIkSantama avitrastaM lòcanaira madhupiGgalaiH taM vAnaravaraM vIrama atikAyaM mahAbalama ॥ 3-146-71 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथॊपसृत्य तरसा भीमॊ भीमपराक्रमः सिंहनादं समकरॊद बॊधयिष्यन कपिं तदा ॥ ३-१४६-७२ ॥
'Without fear, the powerful Bhima, with his long arms, approached him swiftly, letting out a loud roar that echoed like thunder.' ॥ 3-146-72 ॥

athòpasRtya tarasA bhImò bhImaparAkramaH siMhanAdaM samakaròda bòdhayiSyana kapiM tadA ॥ 3-146-72 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेन शब्देन भीमस्य वित्रेषुर मृगपक्षिणः हनूमांश च महासत्त्वम ईषद उन्मील्य लॊचने अवेक्षद अथ सावज्ञं लॊचनैर मधुपिङ्गलैः ॥ ३-१४६-७३ ॥
'Hearing Bhima's shout, both beasts and birds were filled with fear. However, the mighty Hanuman, partially opening his eyes, looked at him with disdain, his eyes reddened as if from intoxication.' ॥ 3-146-73 ॥

tena zabdena bhImasya vitreSura mRgapakSiNaH hanUmAMza ca mahAsattvama ISada unmIlya lòcane avekSada atha sAvajJaM lòcanaira madhupiGgalaiH ॥ 3-146-73 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसमितेनाभाष्य कौन्तेयं वानरॊ नरम अब्रवीत किमर्थं सरुजस ते ऽहं सुखसुप्तः परबॊधितः ॥ ३-१४६-७४ ॥
'Then, smiling, Hanuman addressed him, saying, "Though I am weary, I was sleeping peacefully. Why have you disturbed my rest?"' ॥ 3-146-74 ॥

samitenAbhASya kaunteyaM vAnarò narama abravIta kimarthaM sarujasa te 'haM sukhasuptaH parabòdhitaH ॥ 3-146-74 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptननु नाम तवया कार्या दया भूतेषु जानता वयं धर्मं न जानीमस तिर्यग्यॊनिं समाश्रिताः ॥ ३-१४६-७५ ॥
'You should show kindness to all creatures, as it is fitting for those endowed with reason. We, belonging to the animal species, are ignorant of virtue. But those who possess reason, like yourself, should act with compassion towards all beings.' ॥ 3-146-75 ॥

nanu nAma tavayA kAryA dayA bhUteSu jAnatA vayaM dharmaM na jAnImasa tiryagyòniM samAzritAH ॥ 3-146-75 ॥
