सिंहव्याघ्राश च संक्रुद्धा भीमसेनम अभिद्रवन वयादितास्या महारौद्रा विनदन्तॊ ऽतिभीषणाः ॥ ३-१४६-४६ ॥
'In great confusion, the ruddy geese, gallinules, ducks, karandavas, plavas, parrots, male kokilas, and herons scattered in all directions. Meanwhile, some mighty elephants, driven by their companions, along with enraged lions, charged at Bhimasena with fury.' ॥ 3-146-46 ॥

ततॊ वायुसुतः करॊधात सवबाहुबलम आश्रितः गजेनाघ्नन गजं भीमः सिंहं सिन्हेन चाभिभूः तलप्रहारैर अन्यांश च वयहनत पाण्डवॊ बली ॥ ३-१४६-४७ ॥
'And as fear gripped their hearts, these fierce creatures, overwhelmed with terror, discharged urine and dung, their mouths agape as they emitted loud cries. Then, the illustrious and mighty son of the wind-god, the mighty Pandava, relying on his tremendous strength, began to strike down one elephant with another and one lion with another, while he felled the others with powerful slaps.' ॥ 3-146-47 ॥

ते हन्यमाना भीमेन सिंहव्याघ्र तरक्षवः भयाद विससृपुः सर्वे शकृन मूत्रं च सुस्रुवुः ॥ ३-१४६-४८ ॥
'Struck by Bhima, the lions, tigers, and leopards, filled with fear, let out loud cries and discharged urine and dung.' ॥ 3-146-48 ॥

परविवेश ततः कषिप्रं तान अपास्य महाबलः वनं पाण्डुसुतः शरीमाञ शब्देनापूरयन दिशः ॥ ३-१४६-४९ ॥
'Having vanquished these foes, the valiant son of Pandu, endowed with great strength, entered the forest, his mighty shouts echoing through all directions.' ॥ 3-146-49 ॥

तेन शब्देन चॊग्रेण भीमसेनरवेण च वनान्तर गताः सर्वे वित्रेषुर मृगपक्षिणः ॥ ३-१४६-५० ॥
'Then, the long-armed one beheld on the slopes of Gandhamadana a magnificent plantain tree, its branches extending over many yojanas.' ॥ 3-146-50 ॥
