सुकुमारौ कथं पादौ मुखं च कमलप्रभम मत्कृते ऽदय वरार्हायाः शयामतां समुपागतम ।। ३-१४४-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Alas! Because of me alone, her delicate feet and lotus-like face, so deserving of all that is excellent, have turned dark and lost their radiance.' ।। 3-144-11 ।।

english translation

sukumArau kathaM pAdau mukhaM ca kamalaprabhama matkRte 'daya varArhAyAH zayAmatAM samupAgatama || 3-144-11 ||

'What is this that I, driven by my desire for gambling and acting thoughtlessly, have done—taking Krishna, and wandering in the forest amidst the company of deer and wild creatures?' ।। 3-144-12 ।।

kima idaM dayUtakAmena mayA kRtama abuddhinA AdAya kRSNAM caratA vane mRgagaNAyute || 3-144-12 ||

'This large-eyed maiden was given by her father, the king of the Drupadas, with the hope that the blessed girl would find happiness by having the sons of Pandu as her lords.' ।। 3-144-13 ।।

sukhaM parApsyati pAJcAlI pANDavAna parApya vai patIna iti darupadarAjena pitrA dattAyatekSaNA || 3-144-13 ||

'It is because of my wretchedness that, having gained nothing she hoped for, she now lies prostrate on the ground, exhausted by hardships, sorrow, and her journey!' ।। 3-144-14 ।।

tata sarvama anavApyaiva zaramazòkAda dhi karzitA zete nipatitA bhUmau pApasya mama karmabhiH || 3-144-14 ||

'Vaisampayana said, "While King Yudhishthira, the just, was lamenting in this manner, Dhaumya, along with all the other foremost Brahmanas, arrived at the scene."' ।। 3-144-15 ।।

tathA lAlapyamAne tu dharmarAje yudhiSThire dhaumyaprabhRtayaH sarve tatrAjagmura davijòttamAH || 3-144-15 ||
