[वै] ततः परयातमात्रेषु पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु पद्भ्याम अनुचिता गन्तुं दरौपदी समुपाविशत ।। ३-१४४-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said: "When the high-souled sons of Pandu had traveled only two miles, Draupadi, unaccustomed to walking, grew weary and collapsed."' ।। 3-144-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] tataH parayAtamAtreSu pANDaveSu mahAtmasu padbhyAma anucitA gantuM daraupadI samupAvizata || 3-144-1 ||

hk transliteration

शरान्ता दुःखपरीता च वातवर्षेण तेन च सौकुमार्याच च पाञ्चाली संमुमॊह यशॊ विनी ।। ३-१४४-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Weary and distressed, the frail daughter of Panchala, overcome by the hailstorm and her own delicate constitution, fainted.' ।। 3-144-2 ।।

english translation

zarAntA duHkhaparItA ca vAtavarSeNa tena ca saukumAryAca ca pAJcAlI saMmumòha yazò vinI || 3-144-2 ||

hk transliteration

सा पात्यमाना मॊहेन बाहुभ्याम असितेक्षणा वृत्ताभ्याम अनुरूपाभ्याम ऊरू समवलम्बत ।। ३-१४४-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Trembling with weakness, the black-eyed Draupadi leaned on her plump arms, resting them on her thighs, her graceful form becoming momentarily steady.' ।। 3-144-3 ।।

english translation

sA pAtyamAnA mòhena bAhubhyAma asitekSaNA vRttAbhyAma anurUpAbhyAma UrU samavalambata || 3-144-3 ||

hk transliteration

आलम्बमाना सहिताव ऊरू गजकरॊपमौ पपात सहसा भूमौ वेपन्ती कदली यथा ।। ३-१४४-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Resting for support on her thighs, which resembled the trunk of an elephant and pressed together, she suddenly collapsed to the ground, trembling like a plantain tree in the wind.' ।। 3-144-4 ।।

english translation

AlambamAnA sahitAva UrU gajakaròpamau papAta sahasA bhUmau vepantI kadalI yathA || 3-144-4 ||

hk transliteration

तां पतन्तीं वरारॊहां सज्जमानां लताम इव नकुलः समभिद्रुत्य परिजग्राह वीर्यवान ।। ३-१४४-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Seeing the beautiful one fall like a drooping creeper, Nakula swiftly ran forward and supported her as she collapsed.' ।। 3-144-5 ।।

english translation

tAM patantIM varAròhAM sajjamAnAM latAma iva nakulaH samabhidrutya parijagrAha vIryavAna || 3-144-5 ||
