धरियमाणस तु तुलया कपॊतॊ वयतिरिच्यते पुनश चॊत्कृत्य मांसानि राजा परादाद उशीनरः ॥ ३-१३१-२६ ॥
'Lomasa continued, 'But when the pigeon still outweighed the king's flesh, he again severed another portion of his own flesh and added it to the scale. This continued, with the king repeatedly cutting off portions of his flesh to balance the scale, until none was left.'' ॥ 3-131-26 ॥
english translation
न विद्यते यदा मांसं कपॊतेन समं धृतम तत उत्कृत्त मांसॊ ऽसाव आरुरॊह सवयं तुलाम ॥ ३-१३१-२७ ॥
'In the end, the king, completely devoid of flesh, himself mounted the scale, offering his entire being in place of the pigeon.' ॥ 3-131-27 ॥
english translation
[ष] इन्द्रॊ ऽहम अस्मि धर्मज्ञ कपॊतॊ हव्यवाड अयम जिज्ञासमानौ धर्मे तवां यज्ञवाटम उपागतौ ॥ ३-१३१-२८ ॥
'The hawk then spoke, "I am Indra, O virtuous king, and this pigeon is Agni, the carrier of sacrificial offerings. We have come to your sacred ground to test your merit."' ॥ 3-131-28 ॥

यत ते मांसानि गात्रेभ्य उत्कृत्तानि विशां पते एषा ते भास्वरी कीर्तिर लॊकान अभिभविष्यति ॥ ३-१३१-२९ ॥
'Since you have willingly severed your own flesh, your glory will shine brightly, surpassing that of all others in the world.' ॥ 3-131-29 ॥

यावल लॊके मनुष्यास तवां कथयिष्यन्ति पार्थिव तावत कीर्तिश च लॊकाश च सथास्यन्ति तव शाश्वताः ॥ ३-१३१-३० ॥
'As long as men speak your name, O king, so long will your fame endure, and you shall dwell in the holy realms.' ॥ 3-131-30 ॥
