तं नयस्य वेद्यां कलशं सुषुपुस ते महर्षयः रात्रिजागरण शरान्ताः सौद्युम्निः समतीत्य तान ।। ३-१२६-११ ।।

'The mighty saints, having placed the jar on the altar, retired for the night, weary from their vigil. And as Saudyumni passed them by, his throat was parched, and he endured great suffering from thirst.' ।। 3-126-11 ।।

english translation

taM nayasya vedyAM kalazaM suSupusa te maharSayaH rAtrijAgaraNa zarAntAH saudyumniH samatItya tAna || 3-126-11 ||

शुष्ककण्ठः पिपासार्तः पाणीयार्थी भृशं नृपः तं परविश्याश्रणं शरान्तः पाणीयं सॊ ऽभययाचत ।। ३-१२६-१२ ।।

'The king, greatly parched and desperate for water, entered the hermitage and, in a voice faint from thirst, called out for a drink.' ।। 3-126-12 ।।

तस्य शरान्तस्य शुष्केण कण्ठेन करॊशतस तदा नाश्रौषीत कश चन तदा शकुनेर इव वाशितम ।। ३-१२६-१३ ।।

'At that time, when he cried out with a parched/dry throat in exhaustion, no one heard his cry, like the call of a bird.' ।। 3-126-13 ।।

tasya zarAntasya zuSkeNa kaNThena karòzatasa tadA nAzrauSIta kaza cana tadA zakunera iva vAzitama || 3-126-13 ||

ततस तं कलशं दृष्ट्वा जलपूर्णं स पार्थिवः अभ्यद्रवत वेगेन पीत्वा चाम्भॊ वयवासृजत ।। ३-१२६-१४ ।।

'In his exhaustion, the king's gaze fell upon the jar filled with water. And he swiftly ran towards it, and after drinking the water, he set the jar down.' ।। 3-126-14 ।।

स पीत्वा शीतलं तॊयं पिपासार्थॊ महापतिः निर्वाणम अगमद धीमान सुसुखी चाभवत तदा ।। ३-१२६-१५ ।।

'As the water was cool and the king had been suffering intensely from thirst, the refreshing drink alleviated the wise monarch's distress.' ।। 3-126-15 ।।
