अश्वमेध सहस्रं च पराप्य धर्मभृतां वरः अन्यैश च करतुभिर मुख्यैर विविधैर आप्तदक्षिणैः ॥ ३-१२६-६ ॥
'And the foremost of the virtuous performed the Ashwamedha sacrifice a thousand times. He also conducted other supreme rituals, offering generous gifts at each.' ॥ 3-126-6 ॥
english translation
azvamedha sahasraM ca parApya dharmabhRtAM varaH anyaiza ca karatubhira mukhyaira vividhaira AptadakSiNaiH ॥ 3-126-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनपत्यस तु राजर्षिः स महात्मा दृढव्रतः मन्त्रिष्व आधाय तद राज्यं वननित्यॊ बभूव ह ॥ ३-१२६-७ ॥
'But that king, a saintly soul with mighty resolve, was without a son. Of firm vows, he entrusted the affairs of the kingdom to his ministers and withdrew to live permanently in the forest.' ॥ 3-126-7 ॥

anapatyasa tu rAjarSiH sa mahAtmA dRDhavrataH mantriSva AdhAya tada rAjyaM vananityò babhUva ha ॥ 3-126-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशास्त्रदृष्टेन विधिना संयॊज्यात्मानम आत्मना पिपासा शुष्कहृदयः परविवेशाश्रमं भृगॊर ॥ ३-१२६-८ ॥
'And he, of disciplined soul, devoted himself to the practices prescribed in the sacred scriptures. Once, O king, he observed a fast, and in the grip of hunger, his soul seemed parched with thirst.' ॥ 3-126-8 ॥

zAstradRSTena vidhinA saMyòjyAtmAnama AtmanA pipAsA zuSkahRdayaH paravivezAzramaM bhRgòra ॥ 3-126-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptताम एव रात्रिं राजेन्द्र महात्मा भृगुनन्दनः इष्टिं चकार सौद्युम्नेर महर्षिः पुत्रकारणात ॥ ३-१२६-९ ॥
'And on that very night, O king of kings, the great saint, the pride of Bhrigu's race, performed a religious ceremony in the hermitage of Bhrigu, with the sole purpose of ensuring that Saudyumni might have a son.' ॥ 3-126-9 ॥

tAma eva rAtriM rAjendra mahAtmA bhRgunandanaH iSTiM cakAra saudyumnera maharSiH putrakAraNAta ॥ 3-126-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंभृतॊ मन्त्रपूतेन वारिणा कलशॊ महान तत्रातिष्ठत राजेन्द्र पूर्वम एव समाहितः यत पराश्य परसवेत तस्य पत्नी शक्रसमं सुतम ॥ ३-१२६-१० ॥
'O king of kings! At that spot stood a large jar filled with water, consecrated with sacred hymns, which had been placed there earlier. The water was endowed with the power that, by drinking it, the wife of Saudyumni would bear a son of divine nature.' ॥ 3-126-10 ॥

saMbhRtò mantrapUtena vAriNA kalazò mahAna tatrAtiSThata rAjendra pUrvama eva samAhitaH yata parAzya parasaveta tasya patnI zakrasamaM sutama ॥ 3-126-10 ॥
