तम ऊचुः सैनिकाः सर्वे न विद्मॊ ऽपकृतं वयम सर्वॊपायैर यथाकामं भवांस तद अधिगच्छतु ॥ ३-१२२-१६ ॥
'The soldiers then replied, "We do not know if anyone has wronged the sage. O king, you may investigate the matter as you wish."' ॥ 3-122-16 ॥
english translation
ततः स पृथिवीपालः साम्ना चॊग्रेण च सवयम पर्यपृच्छत सुहृद्वर्गं परत्यजानन न चैव ते ॥ ३-१२२-१७ ॥
'Thereupon, the ruler of the earth, employing both threats and persuasion as he deemed necessary, questioned his allies about the situation. Yet they remained unaware of anything amiss.' ॥ 3-122-17 ॥

आनाहार्तं ततॊ दृष्ट्वा तत सैन्यम असुखार्दितम पितरं दुःखितं चापि सुकन्येदम अथाब्रवीत ॥ ३-१२२-१८ ॥
'Noticing that the army was suffering from the obstruction of their natural functions and realizing that her father was also troubled, Sukanya said;' ॥ 3-122-18 ॥

मयाटन्त्येह वल्मीके दृष्टं सत्त्वम अभिज्वलत खद्यॊतवद अभिज्ञातं तन मया विद्धम अन्तिकात ॥ ३-१२२-१९ ॥
'While wandering in the forest, I came across a radiant object in this anthill. Mistaking it for a glowworm, I approached it and pierced it with thorns.' ॥ 3-122-19 ॥

एतच छरुत्वा तु शर्यातिर वल्मीकं तूर्णम आद्रवत तत्रापश्यत तपॊवृद्धं वयॊवृद्धं च भार्गवम ॥ ३-१२२-२० ॥
'Upon hearing this, Saryati hurried to the anthill, where he saw Bhrigu's son, who was advanced in both age and asceticism.' ॥ 3-122-20 ॥
