नासौ धिया संप्रतिपश्यति सम; किंनाम कृत्वाहम अचक्षुर एवम जातः पृथिव्याम इति पार्थिवेषु; परव्राज्य कौन्तेयम अथापि राज्यात ।। ३-११९-११ ।।

sanskrit

'He fails to see the depths of his own blindness—blind not just in sight, but in heart and mind. Is this not the very consequence of his decision to exile Kunti's son from his own kingdom?' ।। 3-119-11 ।।

english translation

nAsau dhiyA saMpratipazyati sama; kiMnAma kRtvAhama acakSura evama jAtaH pRthivyAma iti pArthiveSu; paravrAjya kaunteyama athApi rAjyAta || 3-119-11 ||

hk transliteration

नूनं समृद्धान पितृलॊकभूमौ; चामीकराभान कषितिजान परफुल्लान विचित्रवीर्यस्य सुतः सपुत्रः; कृत्वा नृशंसं बत पश्यति सम ।। ३-११९-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'I have no doubt that when Vichitravirya's son, alongside his sons, committed this heinous act, he must have seen the flowering trees of golden hue in the place where the dead are cremated. Indeed, he must have questioned them, confronted by their looming figures with shoulders hunched towards him and their large red eyes fixed upon him.' ।। 3-119-12 ।।

english translation

nUnaM samRddhAna pitRlòkabhUmau; cAmIkarAbhAna kaSitijAna paraphullAna vicitravIryasya sutaH saputraH; kRtvA nRzaMsaM bata pazyati sama || 3-119-12 ||

hk transliteration

परस्थापयद यत स वनं हय अशङ्कॊ; युधिष्ठिरं सानुजम आत्तशस्त्रम ।। ३-११९-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'Listening to their malevolent counsel, he boldly sent Yudhishthira into the forest, despite the fact that Yudhishthira was armed with all his weapons and accompanied by his younger brothers.' ।। 3-119-13 ।।

english translation

parasthApayada yata sa vanaM haya azaGkò; yudhiSThiraM sAnujama Attazastrama || 3-119-13 ||

यॊ ऽयं परेषां पृतनां समृद्धां; निर आयुधॊ दीर्घभुजॊ निहन्यात शरुत्वैव शब्दं हि वृकॊदरस्य; मुञ्चन्ति सैन्यानि शकृत स मूत्रम ।। ३-११९-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'This Bhima, whose insatiable appetite rivals that of a wolf, possesses the strength to vanquish a formidable host of enemies single-handedly, without the need for any weapons. The opposing forces quail in terror at the sound of his battle cry, scattering like leaves in the wind.' ।। 3-119-14 ।।

english translation

yò 'yaM pareSAM pRtanAM samRddhAM; nira Ayudhò dIrghabhujò nihanyAta zarutvaiva zabdaM hi vRkòdarasya; muJcanti sainyAni zakRta sa mUtrama || 3-119-14 ||

hk transliteration

स कषुत्पिपासाध्व कृशस तरॊ वी; समेत्य नानायुध बाणपाणिः वने समरन वासम इमं सुघॊरं; शेषं न कुर्याद इति निश्चितं मे ।। ३-११९-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Yet now, this powerful warrior suffers from hunger and thirst, his body worn thin from arduous journeys. But when he finally arms himself with arrows and various weapons and confronts his foes on the battlefield, he will surely recall the hardships of his wretched life in the forest and exact vengeance upon his enemies. I have no doubt that this will come to pass.' ।। 3-119-15 ।।

sa kaSutpipAsAdhva kRzasa tarò vI; sametya nAnAyudha bANapANiH vane samarana vAsama imaM sughòraM; zeSaM na kuryAda iti nizcitaM me || 3-119-15 ||
