[ज] परभास तीर्थं संप्राप्य वृष्णयः पाण्डवास तथा किम अकुर्वन कथाश चैषां कास तत्रासंस तपॊधन ।। ३-११९-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Janamejaya said, "O thou of ascetic wealth! When the sons of Pandu and the Vrishnis arrived at the holy site of Prabhasa, what actions did they take, and what discussions transpired among them?"' ।। 3-119-1 ।।

english translation

[ja] parabhAsa tIrthaM saMprApya vRSNayaH pANDavAsa tathA kima akurvana kathAza caiSAM kAsa tatrAsaMsa tapòdhana || 3-119-1 ||

hk transliteration

ते हि सर्वे महात्मानः सर्वशास्त्रविशारदाः वृष्णयः पाण्डवाश चैव सुहृदश च परस्परम ।। ३-११९-२ ।।

sanskrit

'For all of them were great souls, skilled in various branches of knowledge, and both the Vrishnis and the sons of Pandu held each other in high regard.' ।। 3-119-2 ।।

english translation

te hi sarve mahAtmAnaH sarvazAstravizAradAH vRSNayaH pANDavAza caiva suhRdaza ca parasparama || 3-119-2 ||

hk transliteration

[व] परभास तीर्थं संप्राप्य पुण्यं तीर्थं महॊदधेः वृष्णयः पाण्डवान वीरान परिवार्यॊपतस्थिर ।। ३-११९-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, "When the Vrishnis arrived at the holy site of Prabhasa, the sacred landing-place along the coast of the sea, they surrounded the sons of Pandu and offered their respects."' ।। 3-119-3 ।।

english translation

[va] parabhAsa tIrthaM saMprApya puNyaM tIrthaM mahòdadheH vRSNayaH pANDavAna vIrAna parivAryòpatasthira || 3-119-3 ||

ततॊ गॊक्षीरकुन्देन्दु मृणालरजतप्रभः वनमाली हली रामॊ बभाषे पुष्करेक्षणम ।। ३-११९-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Then Valarama, whose complexion resembled that of cow's milk, the Kunda flower, the moon, silver, and the lotus root, adorned with a garland of wildflowers and possessing arms like ploughshares, spoke to the lotus-eyed one, saying;' ।। 3-119-4 ।।

english translation

tatò gòkSIrakundendu mRNAlarajataprabhaH vanamAlI halI rAmò babhASe puSkarekSaNama || 3-119-4 ||

hk transliteration

न कृष्ण धर्मश चरितॊ भवाय; जन्तॊर अधर्मश च पराभवाय युधिष्ठिरॊ यत्र जटी महात्मा; वनाश्रयः कलिश्यति चीरवासः ।। ३-११९-५ ।।

sanskrit

'O Krishna, I cannot perceive that the practice of virtue brings any benefit, nor do I see that unrighteousness leads to harm. After all, look at Yudhishthira, the magnanimous one, in this pitiable state—his matted hair, living in the forest, clad in the bark of trees.' ।। 3-119-5 ।।

english translation

na kRSNa dharmaza caritò bhavAya; jantòra adharmaza ca parAbhavAya yudhiSThirò yatra jaTI mahAtmA; vanAzrayaH kalizyati cIravAsaH || 3-119-5 ||
