[ल] तरिशतं वै सहस्राणि यॊजनानां युधिष्ठिर यत्र धवनिं शृणॊष्य एनं तूष्णीम आस्स्व विशां पते ॥ ३-११४-१६ ॥
'Lomasa said, "O Yudhishthira, the source of this divine sound that reaches your ears lies three hundred thousand yojanas away. O king of men, remain silent and utter not a word."' ॥ 3-114-16 ॥
english translation
एतत सवयं भुवॊ राजन वनं रम्यं परकाशते यत्रायजत कौन्तेय विश्वकर्मा परतापवान ॥ ३-११४-१७ ॥
'O king, behold this divine forest of the Self-existent One that has now come into our sight. It was here that the formidable Visvakarma performed his sacred rites.' ॥ 3-114-17 ॥
english translation
यस्मिन यज्ञे हि भूर दत्ता कश्यपाय महात्मने स पर्वत वनॊद्देशा दक्षिणा वै सवयं भुवा ॥ ३-११४-१८ ॥
'During that grand sacrifice, the Self-existent One graciously bestowed this entire earth, along with its hills and forested lands, upon Kasyapa as a generous gift for his service as the officiating priest.' ॥ 3-114-18 ॥
english translation
अवासीदच च कौन्तेय दत्तमात्रा मही तदा उवाच चापि कुपिता लॊकेश्वरम इदं परभुम ॥ ३-११४-१९ ॥
'And then, O son of Kuru, as the goddess Earth was being relinquished, she felt a deep sadness in her heart. In her wrath, she addressed the great Lord, the ruler of all worlds, with the following words:' ॥ 3-114-19 ॥
english translation
न मां मर्त्याय भगवन कस्मै चिद दातुम अर्हसि परदानं मॊघम एतत ते यास्याम्य एषा रसातलम ॥ ३-११४-२० ॥
'O mighty God, it is beneath your dignity to bestow me upon an ordinary mortal. This act of donation will yield no fruit, for I shall descend into the depths of the netherworld!' ॥ 3-114-20 ॥
