[वै] ततः परयातः कौशिक्याः पाण्डवॊ जनमेजय आनुपूर्व्येण सर्वाणि जगामायतनान्य उत ।। ३-११४-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, 'Then, O Janamejaya, the son of Pandu set forth from the banks of the Kaushiki River, visiting each sacred shrine in succession.'' ।। 3-114-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] tataH parayAtaH kauzikyAH pANDavò janamejaya AnupUrvyeNa sarvANi jagAmAyatanAnya uta || 3-114-1 ||

hk transliteration

स सागरं समासाद्य गङ्गायाः संगमे नृप नदीशतानां पञ्चानां मध्ये चक्रे समाप्लवम ।। ३-११४-२ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O protector of men, he arrived at the place where the Ganga merges with the sea. There, at the heart of five hundred rivers, he performed the sacred ritual of immersion.' ।। 3-114-2 ।।

english translation

sa sAgaraM samAsAdya gaGgAyAH saMgame nRpa nadIzatAnAM paJcAnAM madhye cakre samAplavama || 3-114-2 ||

hk transliteration

ततः समुद्रतीरेण जगाम वसु धाधिपः भरातृभिः सहितॊ वीरः कलिङ्गान परति भारत ।। ३-११४-३ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, O ruler of the earth, the valiant prince, accompanied by his brothers, journeyed along the seashore toward the land of the Kalinga tribes.' ।। 3-114-3 ।।

english translation

tataH samudratIreNa jagAma vasu dhAdhipaH bharAtRbhiH sahitò vIraH kaliGgAna parati bhArata || 3-114-3 ||

hk transliteration

[ल] एते कलिङ्गाः कौन्तेय यत्र वैतरणी नदी यत्रायजत धर्मॊ ऽपि देवाञ शरणम एत्य वै ।। ३-११४-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Lomasa said, 'There is the land, O son of Kunti, where the Kalinga tribes dwell. Through it flows the sacred river Vaitarani, on whose banks even the god of virtue once performed sacrifices, having first sought the protection of the celestials.'' ।। 3-114-4 ।।

english translation

[la] ete kaliGgAH kaunteya yatra vaitaraNI nadI yatrAyajata dharmò 'pi devAJa zaraNama etya vai || 3-114-4 ||

hk transliteration

ऋषिभिः समुपायुक्तं यज्ञियं गिरिशॊभितम उत्तरं तीरम एतद धि सततं दविज सेवितम ।। ३-११४-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Indeed, this is the northern bank, home to revered sages and an ideal place for performing sacred rites, graced by a beautiful hill and frequented by the twice-born.' ।। 3-114-5 ।।

english translation

RSibhiH samupAyuktaM yajJiyaM girizòbhitama uttaraM tIrama etada dhi satataM davija sevitama || 3-114-5 ||
