For we, having strayed onto a wrong course, ought indeed to be set right by a father-figure. Re-establish us on the proper path; and you, O King, remain firm in your own rightful course.
english translation
Your sons, O best of the Bharatas, have spoken thus about this council: “In an assembly seated with knowers of dharma, what is occurring here is not appropriate.”
english translation
Where dharma is nullified by adharma, and truth is nullified by falsehood, while the members look on—there the assembly-members are, in effect, morally undone.
english translation
When dharma, wounded by adharma, enters an assembly, and the assembly-members—though themselves implicated—do not remove its ‘splinter’ (the cause of injury), dharma then harms them, as a river harms those who move along with its current.
english translation
Those who contemplate dharma and sit in silent reflection declare truth to be dharma, and also that which is juridically proper, O bull among the Bharatas.
