Whoever destroys everything for the sake of reputation is cut off from true fame; instead he wins enduring ill-repute among all beings.

english translation

For enmities do not become pacified, even when formed long ago. There are always narrators who recount them, and in the lineage new men are born.

english translation

Nor is enmity pacified by enmity, O Keśava. Like fire fed with oblations, O Kṛṣṇa, it only grows further.

english translation

Therefore there is no peace otherwise: inwardly, one is ever seeking an opening. For those who crave an advantage or a gap, this fault persists without interruption.

english translation

O Krishna, distress born of human agency is indeed powerful and weighs upon the heart. Peace arises either by relinquishing its cause, or even by withdrawing the mind from it.
