Or else, O Madhusūdana, by striking at the root of one’s adversaries, the outcome may be secured decisively; yet that would be the more ruthless course.
english translation
But the peace that comes through relinquishment—apart from that—amounts only to destruction: through uncertainty and through total elimination, both of adversaries and of one’s own side as well.
english translation
We do not wish to abandon that claim, nor do we wish for the destruction of the lineage. Here, the peace achieved through respectful submission is the preferable course.
english translation
For those striving in every way and desiring non-engagement, when conciliation is obstructed, strategic engagement becomes an acknowledged necessity, not a failure of courage.
english translation
When conciliation is met with resistance, a harsh turn of events begins—recognized by the learned, like the behavior of dogs at a cowherd’s feet.
