Those who here enter the teacher’s ‘womb’—becoming, as it were, an embryo—and practice brahmacarya: they become authorities on śāstra in this very life; and, abandoning the body, they attain the highest yoga.

english translation

One who, by truthful instruction, removes the covering from the ears and bestows what leads to deathlessness—one should regard that person as both father and mother; knowing the good done for oneself, one should not be hostile toward them.

english translation

A student, ever holding the teacher in high reverence, should pursue self-study—pure and vigilant. One should not foster pride and should not retain anger; this is said to be the first “foot” of brahmacarya.

english translation

One should do what is beneficial and agreeable to the teacher—even at the cost of one’s energies or resources—by deed, by mind, and by speech. This is called the second “foot” of brahmacarya

english translation

As one’s conduct is toward the teacher, so should it be toward the teacher’s wife as well. Acting in accordance with what is instructed and doing what is beneficial—this is called the third “foot” of brahmacarya.
