तस्य पर्येषणं गच्छेत्प्राचीनं नोत दक्षिणम् । नार्वाचीनं कुतस्तिर्यङ्नादिशं तु कथंचन॥५-४३-३३॥
In seeking that (highest principle), one should proceed toward what is ancient and primordial, not toward the southern quarter; not toward what is later or posterior, nor sideways—nor, in any manner, toward any mere direction.
