anatsujāta said: In this matter, the fruits of both are experienced—of Dharma and of its opposite. The wise repel adharma through Dharma; know from this that Dharma is the stronger.

english translation

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: Those worlds are spoken of as eternal—belonging to one’s own Dharma—for the twice-born who perform meritorious acts. People describe their gradations and then other worlds; yet I do not understand this, nor the action that leads to it.

english translation

Sanatsujāta said: Those brāhmaṇas in whom there is no rivalry grounded in strength—unlike the competitive strength of the powerful—after departing from here, shine in the heavenly realm.

english translation

Where a brāhmaṇa considers food and drink to be abundant—like grass and water in the rainy season—living on that, he should not be anxious.

english translation

Where, for one who does not speak out, an inauspicious fear is produced, the person who speaks—acting as though adding what is needed—is better than the other.
