You are indeed our most valued envoy; only Vidura would be a second comparable choice were he to come here. For you have long been frequently seen among us, and you are a friend to Dhanañjaya, as dear as his own self.

From here, Sañjaya, go at once and pay reverence to those brāhmaṇas who are worthy of it—men of unblemished integrity, established in right conduct, born in noble families, and endowed with the full measure of dharmic qualifications.

To the brāhmaṇas devoted to svādhyāya, to mendicants, and to ascetics who dwell continually in the forests—convey, in my name, salutations to the elders among them, and to the others communicate my inquiry after their well-being.

You should also meet, as is proper, the royal chaplain (purohita) of King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and his teachers and officiating priests. With them, dear one, associate in a manner befitting their station, and exchange only words of well-being, O sūta.

Drona—beloved as an ācārya, steadfast and worthy of obedience—pursued the Vedas and practiced brahmacarya. He who reconstituted the fourfold discipline of weapon-training should, if well-disposed, be respectfully saluted in a manner appropriate to his station.
