You should inquire after the well-being of Aśvatthāman—learned, established in right conduct, and connected with the reconstituted fourfold discipline of weapon-training—vigorous, and comparable in appearance and prowess to a Gandharva’s son.

english translation

Having gone to the dwelling of Śāradvata Kṛpa—the great chariot-warrior, foremost among the masters of weapons—touch his feet with your hand, O Sañjaya, repeatedly speaking of me.

english translation

To Bhīṣma—the best of the Kurus, in whom dwell valor, non-cruelty, disciplined austerity, insight, noble character, learning with integrity, and steadfastness—take hold of his feet and there convey my reverent salutations.

english translation

To that aged king—the leader of the Kurus, whose sight is wisdom, widely learned, devoted to serving elders, and discerning—having saluted him, report, O Sañjaya, that I am free from illness.

english translation

Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s eldest son—dull, unwise, deceitful, and of harmful conduct, O Sañjaya—by whom indeed the whole earth is governed: ask, dear one, after Suyodhana’s welfare.
