If, for the sake of the Pāṇḍavas, I could bring about peace among the Kurus and act accordingly, it would be for me a great and auspicious merit—and the Kurus too would be released from the noose of death.

english translation

If I were to speak a refined, well-wrought discourse—delighting in dharma, rich in meaning, and non-injurious—perhaps the Dhārtarāṣṭras would listen in my presence, and the Kurus, upon my arrival, would honor me.

english translation

Otherwise, know the Dhārtarāṣṭras to be cast down—those imprudent men, consumed by the consequences of their own deeds—by Phalguna (Arjuna), the chariot-warrior, and by Bhīma, roused to enter the fray with strategic purpose.

english translation

The Dhārtarāṣṭra utters harsh words, shaped like wrath, about the Pāṇḍavas as though they were already defeated; yet Bhīmasena, vigilant and mace in hand, will in due time remind Duryodhana of what is real.

english translation

Suyodhana (Duryodhana) is a great tree made of anger; Karṇa is its trunk, and Śakuni its branches. Duḥśāsana is rich in flowers and fruits; and the root is King Dhṛtarāṣṭra, lacking discernment.
