O Sañjaya, King Dhṛtarāṣṭra together with his sons is the forest; the Pāṇḍavas are the tigers within that forest. Do not cut down the forest together with its tigers, and do not drive the tigers out of the forest.

Without a forest, the tiger is brought down; without a tiger, the forest is cut down. Therefore the tiger should protect the forest, and the forest should preserve the tiger as well.

O Sañjaya, the Dhārtarāṣṭras have the nature of a vine; the Pāṇḍavas are like śāla trees. A vine never grows without taking support from a great tree.
