In this, the sustaining and ordering principle is present; success is established here. The Dāśārha Kṛṣṇa, whom you have named, is fit to be our commander. Let the best among speakers declare it—the night is passing.

english translation

Then, having appointed as commander one who would act in accordance with Kṛṣṇa’s direction, when the remainder of the night had passed we shall proceed to the field of battle, with weapons ritually prepared and auspicious observances completed.

english translation

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Having heard that statement of the wise Dharmarāja, the lotus-eyed one spoke, looking toward Dhanaṃjaya.

english translation

Those very men whom you have named, O Mahārāja, are acceptable to me as leaders of your host—heroes, steadfast and valiant in battle. All of them are able to crush and neutralize your foes.

english translation

In a mighty engagement they could rouse fear even in Indra; how much more, then, among the Dhārtarāṣṭras, driven by greed and of sinful, distorted mind.
